Recycling a corrugated box is good. Not needing to recycle it yet is better: reuse skips the pulping, the re-forming, the drying, the water and the freight. Move the sliders and see what your own volume is worth.

Figures use 0.95 lb CO₂e and 2.7 gal of process water per pound of containerboard avoided, and 17 trees per ton of virgin fibre. Every assumption, with sources and the cases where it is conservative, is written out on the reuse-math page.

How a box moves through us
Four touches between your dock and the next one.
No box is bought sight-unseen and no box is sold ungraded. This is the whole process, and it is deliberately short.

Collected
We pick up from your dock on our own equipment or on a matched backhaul. Boxes are counted and photographed as they come off the truck.
- 02
Graded
Every box is opened, checked for damp, contamination and crush, then assigned a grade on the 1A–5A ladder. Rejects go straight to the baler.
- 03
Repaired or banded
Sound boxes are flattened, banded in like sizes and put away by grade. Borderline boxes go to the repair bench before they are offered.
- 04
Reissued
Sold, loaded and dispatched to the next plant. Each trip is logged, which is how we know the average box we handle makes 3.4 more journeys.
Why used, always
A corrugated box does not wear out. It gets thrown out — usually while it still has years of work in it.
Containerboard loses strength through moisture, crushing and repeated folding, not through time. A dry five-wall gaylord stored under a roof is as strong on its fourth trip as on its first. The industry throws them away because sorting, storing and hauling used boxes is unglamorous work — which is precisely the work we built a company around.
We have pulled boxes out of a cleanout that were printed in 2016, still square, still rated, still perfect. Somebody was paying to landfill them.
Reuse beats recycling by an order of magnitude
Re-running an existing gaylord avoids roughly 23 lb of CO₂e versus manufacturing its replacement from virgin fibre — recycling the same box back into board saves only a fraction of that.
Fibre gets shorter every time it is pulped
Corrugated fibre survives five to seven recycling loops before it is too short to bond. Every reuse cycle we add is a pulping cycle the fibre never has to spend.
The freight is already happening
We match empty-box moves to trucks already running our lanes. A reused box that rides on a backhaul carries a fraction of the transport burden of a new one shipped from a converting plant.
Landfill is a choice, not an outcome
Nothing that arrives at Fiberglass Rd is landfilled. It is reused, reconditioned, cut into something else, or baled and sold back to a mill — in that order of preference, every time.
